My new shrimp adventure

I didn't overfeed. I know that because I only fed once a week and I made sure to not let it sit there. I'm going to use distilled water for now on to make sure that the water is ok.
The snails were mystery snails, said the pet store. They were all gone in one night so I don't think the other shrimp did it.
If you use distilled water you must add the minerals that will be missing.

Stupid question: What is your tap PH?

Agreed. I feel like the only reason you come onto this forum is to get more blog hits.

Then I did a water change one day, and my shrimp acted weird and just laid on the bottom of the tank. I think it was because I did not let the water conditioner sit long enough.
The snails ate all the shrimp but one.

You should consider testing your water for copper. Copper is toxic to most inverts and shrimp are really sensitive to it. It may have been in the new water when you did the water change.

So now I am starting with a newly cycled tank and blue pearl shrimp. I just paid for them today so they will come *hopefully* soon
A newly cycled tank is generally not very good for shrimp. Neocardia sp. are hardy, but they munch on the biofilm that takes a while to form on the substrate and decor. Also, snails have a fairly high waste load compared to shrimp. It could be that adding the snails was too much for your newly cycled tank to handle and the ammonia spiked, causing your shrimp to get sick or die, then the snails ate them.
