ok i have a 15 gal that is currently a fry raising tank. its bare bottem but today i went out and got all the stuff to set it up once the fry have matured.
i was thinking of these rocks, with a couple of large flat riverstones hanging around here and there. i sort of wanna go with a destert sort of a theme. i am putting in the attached ferns aswell.(can someone tell me what they are?)

What are you going to put in the tank?

If you are going with a desert theme, I was wondering if you were really set on those rocks you suggest?

I think a momo-colored substrate would give you more of a "desert" look. Also, desert plants all have narrow or small leaves. The sword plant you picture is gorgeous (I wish I could have one as nice) but it may not provide you with that desert feel you are seeking.

OK, now for suggestions of fish, try something transparent - kinda like a "bones in the desert" idea. I also saw a cool aquarium decoration at my large pet store chan store and it was a skull.

Sorry if that theme is too gruesome.

If you aren't into the bones idea, I have seen a lot of really gorgeous dalmation mollies lately. Also, a lyre tail anything (guppy) would be cool, kinda like a bird flying over your desert.

Best wishes - take your fun ideas and run with 'em! :dog:

like the ones that are about 3 inches long? or maybe some moonlight guarami's

BGK get to be @ 20 inches at maturity; I wouldn't advise it at all. Why don't you check out some species at proper sites and figure out what YOU want, instead of having others guesswork for you?? Once you narrow down species, then you can ask ask questions that are easier to answer. It's your aquarium and you have to live with it (and the fish in it), so check out what interests you!!! Just a suggestion . . .
