Hi I'm new to the hobby, just got this tank from a friend of mine, What do you guys think of it? I paid $1700 for it. Is it a good price? Any tips that you guys will like to give me, like I said I'm new to the SW hobby but I've been reading for a while now, the tank will be moved from his house to my house on Tuesday. I'm paying my LFS to move it. Please if you have any advise it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jay

looks good. do you mind listing everything you got? how many gallons tank is it? i think it's a nice tank.

I don't really know what it has, I will pick it up next Tuesday, the only thing I know it's a custom made tank and it's 100g. As soon as I get it I will post more details, but so far you guys think is a good deal right?

Thanks,
Jay

I think it is a great deal considering all the coral. I hope your LFS knows that when he moves it he just needs to treat it with only 1/2 the original water and 1/2 new. It should be nothing but a bigger water change for the corals and fish. There should be no cycling it that way. That's what I did when I moved my tank + bigger. Do you know what type lights it comes with?

As a noob, I'm not sure I would want to take over that much plumbing and wiring. Better keep your friend close by to explain why some valves are partially open, closed, and wide open, and what goes where.

besides that, looks like a great deal. Hope everything makes the move well.

not sure of you can say if it's a good deal if you don't know what you get. don't rush, please name what you are getting to know for sure. it sounds like a normal deal, nothing special

Cant say for sure if it is a good deal. Like beauty, a deal is in the eye of the beholder. Would you have payed more for it had he asked? It does look like a very nice, well equipped, well stocked tank. Check the creds of the LFS moving it and make sure they know what they are getting into, it will be a very involved move. Good luck and please update.

As the pictures show, it is an "ok" deal. Those 2 open/exposed transformers sitting next to the sump would scare the $#%* out of me though. Plumbing and wiring look like a mess and needs some very good explaining when you take over so you understand how it all works.

Need to know more specifics to really say how good of a deal it is. What lighting comes with it? Brand/type of pumps? How big is the sump? Refugium? What type of protein skimmer? Things like that.
