My Online Ordering Experiences, for info

I just ordered a dissolved oxygen test kit by red sea from North Coast Pets, at northcoastpets.com, and they were incredibly helpful.
Turns out the kit i ordered was on backorder. I spoke with Mark, who called me a few days after I ordered it to let me know. He asked if I wanted to keep the order or not, gave me a couple of other options, other kits, and explained which was better and how much they all were. I told him to keep the order, and he said he would call when he knew when the backordered kit would be in.
Two days later he called and said they recieved a shipment of a different, better, but more expensive type of kit. Did I want to wait for the backordered kit or order the kit they had? I told him to go ahead and send me the kit they had. He did, it arrived three days later, in great shape.
Also, I noticed it arrived in a box appropriate to the size of the kit, well packed with obviously RECYCLED packing peanuts, and an invoice as well. Excellent customer service, and enviro friendly too! Awesome.
I'll definitely order from them again. :thm:

Drs f s - I ordered bio-spira from them. it came in a heavy duty styrofoam container in a box with an icepack. unfortuantly, the biospira was a dud. It may have sat too long on my doorstep, and while it was below room temp it was not refrigorator cold when i got it.

thatpetplace- Ordered plants. they came bundled together in newspaper, still determining how well the plants fared since we got hit by a cold snap. the hornwort doesn't look very good.

Bigals- two orders from them, perfect both times.

aquariumgarden- have an order pending now.

I know that his is a FW topic but has anyone odered or know anyone whos ordered from www.saltwaterfish.com so far from what ive seen there prices are pretty good, with lots of variety.

I've ordered tons of stuff from drsfosterandsmith.com and I've been pleased with everything with one exception. I ordered a fully auto CO2 rig that cost $400 from them and the bubble counter was a super-cheap piece of plastic crap that broke before I even used it in spite of my being extra careful with it. It seems to me for $400 you should include a better quality component. I'd pay $10 more for a glass one! I ordered a glass one from someone on eBay to replace the crappy one they sent. I ordered everything for my 65 gallon including over 100 lbs. of substrate and everything arrived quickly and shipping was very reasonable. Everything I have ordered from them has arrived in 2-3 days. I ordered a stand from them and it shipped directly from the manufacturer. It was a a little slower in coming and was missing some of the components necessary for assembly but that is the fault of the manufacturer, of course.
I have ordered plants and fish from liveaquaria.com (the "live goods" section of Drs. Foster and Smith) with mixed results. The plants arrived in great shape but they backordered me on several items and I have yet to receive the items or a credit and it has been over a month. That reminds me I need to contact them about it. I ordered fish from them one time. I ordered 6 Sterba's Corys and a pair of killifish. The killifish arrived in fine shape and are thriving. They sent me the wrong Corys (Trilineus) and 5 of the 6 died in a matter of a few days. They did credit me for the 5 that died without anything but my word as proof and I commend them for that, but they don't credit any of the $40 shipping charge. I'm not sure I'd order fish from them again.
I've ordered plants and fish on aquabid.com from several different people. All of my orders were from the last week or so and I've gotten one of my plant orders and was very pleased. I hope I'll be as pleased with the other 3 orders I have coming.
I ordered a light bulb from Big Al's after seriously shopping the net and found that they had it the cheapest. It was shipped promptly and very well packaged.
I am sure I'll be ordering more from the internet in the future because my options here in SC are limited to the basics for the most part. Anything outside the ordinary simply isn't available from anyone here locally.
