this oscar was the first of all my fish babies, got me started with fish fanatics. and only 2 and a half years old. I'm grieving as i would if it had been my beloved 14 yr old dog.what i need help with is her friend. she has been with an albino oscar since the very first days of her life with me, and now he is depressed and not eating. should i get him a friend? leave him alone i dont know and i need help please. it was hard enough to loose her but to see her friend in despair is killing me now.

aww, i am so sorry. What happened with teh one that died? were you feeding feeders? Any new additions? Just want to rule out illness over sadness. Oscars are pouty, I have had mine go almost a month without eating because he was mad/upset.

Sorry to hear about youre loss!! +1 to msjinkzd, the lack of eating may be signal to illness. Hopefully he is just upset. Good luck.

the black one had had some weird skin problem every now and then her skin would cloud over and almost peel although this time it ended with a big cuffuddle, in the morning she was fine, by the time i got back from work she was clouded over, pop eye in one eye and looked blinded in the other, she was arched on her side and very laboured breathing. the albino was by her side all day (my partner found them and tried to contact me but its pretty much impossible at my new job) and trying to get her up, encouraging her etc then has been sulking since we took her out. Ive already done water changes and hoping for the best but i dont know wether he would like another mate or just some random things to keep him occupied or what. other than sulking he is in perfect condition, looking beautiful and not a single flaw on his body so im at a loss as to what actually killed my other fish

edit:
no feeder fish in a few months, they get cichlid gold pellets & occasional frozen bloodworms

That really sucks. Sorry.

I would just leave him be for now. Introducing a new fish may cause problems, and more heart ache.

Awww, sorry for your loss..Oscars are great fish. Good luck with your other.
