Have had this up and running for maybe 3 months now and just got the new aqualight :perv:

any suggestions on what to add to this tank?

the left corner looks very sparse, i think i will tie some kind of moss/anubias onto the center piece of driftwood

it is a 45 gallon with some kind of knock off flourite, fluval 305, 36" aqualight
stock is 1 wild scalare, 7 red eye tetras, 8 swartzi corys, 2 gold striped panque plecos, 1 white spot ancistrus and some other randoms

196 watts , thats alot of wpg per gallon wow.......

does the height of the tank decrease wpg? i think its 20" tall

in this case the height doesnt really matter.

4.35wpg is alot. And as was suggested above, i would also suggest that you look into injecting a carbon source for the plants. DIY might not be enough for such high lighting, but you can try it and see how it works for you.

What you can also do is have one bulb on for 6-8hrs of the day and then the final 2hrs turn on the 2nd bulb for a finishing burst of light.

yea im not running both bulbs at the same time....... will that help?

i will look into a co2 system

i cant find any legs for the aqualight, i will have to talk to my boss and see if he can order any

i also have a hair algae problem on my two huge anubias in the back ground how can i get rid of this? If it spreads to the rest of the plants..... :wall::eek::eek::jaw-dropping::rant2::shocked:

the flag fish look to be eating some of it
