hi there can anyone help me out i am wanting to find out which is best substrate for my plecos is gravel or sand i would like to know what is the best sand for this some people tell me i can use play pit sand if this is true is it any good

cheers:)

I think in the long run, you will need to identify what kind of pleco and what other fish you will keep, before deciding sand/gravel. I personally think either will be fine in general.

sorry the plecos i have are l235
l091 l052 clown plecs and some bristle noses they are all in seperate tanks

Play sand should work fine with those. Also, pool sand works just as well. I prefer a sand substrate for plecos because it's a little easier to keep clean, and some of the species like to dig in it. If you do decide to go with gravel, make sure it's a smooth gravel, with no sharp edges to scrape up your bottom dwellers.
