My poor betta?

Yes I know that I don't have a fish tank right now. I might get Betas but I really want to breed fish. I used to have a couple fish but they died and I couldn't fund anymiore fish. Now I'm getting back into the hobby.

I do have expeirience with betas though I used to have 2 of them.

I had a betta once too, lived just over 3 years, but that does not mean I can or should breed them. Actually betas would be the last fish I tried to breed. They can be extremely violent when they mate, before, during, and after. Often significant finnage is lost, especially if the female is not interested in mating. Check out this thread. It will give you an idea how difficult it can be to Breed decent bettas.

Breeding to breed is a bad idea IMO. To really due justice to breeding you need to have the appropriate set-up for fry and a plan to move the fry. Just an FYI, most fish store will not buy from the average home-owner breeder unless the fish is hard-to-find, rare or sells for lots of money at the store and this usually means the fish are hard to breed and/or the fry are hard to raise.

Right On! Breeding just to breed ANY SPECIES is a terrible idea. Things rarely go as planned, even in the best cases. Why add more fish to the possibly bad conditions prevelant in so many LFS, and to go to the possibly bad conditions prevelant in so many fishtanks/bowls? Just love your fish and keep them well.
