MY Red Cherry Shrimp Arrived!

Woohoo! msjinkzd's shrimp arrived and theyre currently drip acclimating in a mixing cup

I havent even gotten a chance to check for any DoAs yet

Starting stats for the arriving water:
7:11
Ammonia - 0.5
Nitrite - 0.25
Nitrate - 40 (!!)
pH - 8

I feel so bad for the little fellas, they had to endure a jostling 2 day trip through the postal system and I shudder at these params, but better times are near!

color my shrimp acclimated! Although theyre almost clear in pigment, I'm sure it was just from their trip across the nation

They're really lively and active, which I consider a good sign, I'm giving them another 30 minutes of drip acclimation before releasing them into their new home. I'll take pictures as soon as I can, but they sure are hard to photograph.

as promised, pictures! Keep in mind that the plants are rather new, and i hope that will eventually become a moss wall on the left.

I think it looks like a great start! What kind of moss did you use for the moss wall? The shrimp should color up greatly over the next few days.

It's your java moss msjinkzd, it doesnt look like it's doin so great though. I'm in the process of designing a new light hood for some increased wattage :lol:

Should I take out the yellowed parts?

Oh, and the shrimp have gotten their color back but they're much more subdued today, barely any dashing round and round the tank like last night, I hope it isn't a sign of trouble...

Nice Tank!! Nice Shrimp!! Thanks for the pictures! My shrimps were kinda of dull in appearance as well when I first got them (didn't purchase them from Msjunkzd though--but I did get some snails from her!!) too. They colored right up and now I have a colony going!!! You will to--really soon I am sure! :thm:
