My reviews on Dr. Fosters and Smith

My wife & I love the Dr.'s. All of our plants are from them, since our lfs are mostly crud. (One lfs reall good for fish, but no plants) We have had good success with the plants overall. Echinodorus 'Kleiner Bar', Anubias nana,Microsorum pteropus,Vallisneria americana, Nymphoides aquatica andBacopa monnieriordered from them are all going gang busters in our tank. Our only issue (other than our own mistakes) was a Myriophyllum heterophyllum that came with some Physiidae sp. snails on it. Nothing quarantine couldn't handle.

My first purchase from F&S was for loaches that I could not find locally. The fish arrived as promised and in good health. They are still alive and growing 10 months later. I have placed several other orders with F&S. Their sales beat my LFS even with shipping as long as I buy in bulk. I am a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend them.

I've placed 5 or 6 orders with the Dr's. Been very satisfied with service. When I compare prices they are always way cheaper including shipping. For lights check out Catalina Aquarium. Best prices I've found anywhere!
Only have a few small gripes with their shipper Fedx. I had ordered some plants, they left them on the porch without knocking or ringing the bell in the freezing cold. My girlfriend was there. When I got home the temperature in the plants was in the 40sF. I did loose some of them and I did get pond snails. There may be better choices for plants.
Also where I live, sometimes ground shipping is faster than expedited.
