My SAE thinks he's an Otto

It's so fun to watch my Ottos chase each other back and forth across the tank...it's even funnier that my SAE follows them everwhere. When the ottos stop to clean the glass with their sucker mouthes, the SAE swims straight up alongside them like he's an otto! And since he does not have a sucker mouth, he kind of looks at them trying to figure out what they are doing. Too funny!

As juveniles, SAE can look very similar to otos. That's how I ended up with one--the darned thing was sold to me as an oto, and had to be removed because the shark in the tank ignores the otos, but didn't like the SAE one bit. The SAE is now happy in another tank, and will sometimes school with the otos despite being much, much larger.
