My Saltwater Journey: a diary

The tank looks terrific! Aquascaping is really nice too. Can't wait to see it evolve.

got some updates to report & some new pics!

Finally put in new lights and got rid of those 20ks. I put a cheapie 14K bulb from ebay on the left and an overpriced coralife 14k, from a LFS that I'll never send my hubby to again, on the right. This is for my own comparison to see if I'm happy with the look and growth I get from a cheap ebay bulb and also to see how long it lasts. The first difference I can see is the coralife side is brighter and more sparkly. It's not that noticeable, unless you're looking for it though. I will probably ditch the experiment and get a better bulb (from a different LFS) for the left when I can spend money again.

Anyway, the tank is much brighter now!

Fish occupants are in my signature. I added in a purple lobster not long ago. He's gorgeous but I only see him if I look for him at night with a flashlight. I finally got a bunch of ricordeas! Gorgeous! :headbang2:

And over the past weekend, I picked up a Pixy Hawfish as my official last fish addition to this tank. And my husband surprised me with a beautiful sun coral! Something else for me to obsess about making sure it eats enough!

I'm also happy to report that I must be very lucky, or my persistence has paid off. Both the Scooter Blenny and the Target Mandarin eat every prepared food I offer the tank. I always feed with a turkey baster so I can make sure everyone gets enough. They eat frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, marine cuisine, formula one, a mix of shrimp & octopus I chop up myself with cyclops and hikari pellets, and they also appear to love Prime Reef flakes!

Here are some recent pics!

I don't know why my pictures look all faded and icky and I can't seem to get a decent FTS, but here are a few more.
