My shrimp died

Thanks, guys... I appreciate the kind words. I do plan to have more shrimp. I want to turn my 10 gallon into an invert tank, with Ramshorns, Mystery, and a Nerite or two. Some kind of shrimp, maybe several kinds, that like hard water and high ph, which I plan to insure by having some good THR in there, and maybe aragonite sand.

What do you guys think. Oh, and I guess I'll be wanting some plants that will be good, and a couple of moss balls. Guess I'll be looking in the classifieds before too long if I get things worked out.

Suggestions on shrimp, and total occupancy count of shrimp and snails would be appreciated. Thanks.

Technically, most species of ghost shrimp only have a lifespan measured in months. They are not a long-lived species like some others. I think Amanos can live for several years, for instance. However, shrimp like ghost or cherries reproduce much easier.

I doubt you killed the shrimp. It was just ready to die is all. The coloration is a good indication of health. When they get cloudy, they are close to death.

Ghost shrimp in particular have a high mortality rate from the store. You might get five or six and only have a few, or maybe all of them, survive moving to your tank. They ususally get a little abused in the shipping and storing process at most pet shops.

Yea when I got 3 ghost shrimp about a week ago the employee shoved his hand into the net and grabbed the shrimp out without a care in the world.
One of the shrimp had a blood tail and the other two lost a part of their antennae. Honestly I've never seen such mistreatment of such a shrimp before.
