...... my sister got a 10 gallon.. came with a bubbler gravel tank and hood

plastic guppies hanging from a mobile....no cycling..no worries....

:iagree: Best stocking suggestion I've seen!

Trade you puffers! 2/3 of mine eat blood worms while the third only eats live foods. I can't keep snails in stock lol. I'll pay shipping if you want to send any my way. :)

Funny - he did love bloodworms and live black worms. Never touched a snail though and was fat and healthy. They don't require snails since they don't have the continue growing teeth. He was such an adroable little guy, but I've been downsizing my number of fw tanks since setting up some saltwater. I rehomed him at my last fish swap, otherwise I really would have shipped him off for you!

I really like the ideas of platies, but I would recommend just getting male platies. You don't want her having to deal with overpopulation with female platies.

UGH my sister isnt listening, she went and got 1 goldfish 1 pleco 3 tetras of some sort 3 guppys plus the one she had, but didint get a filter...... so shes running the tank filterless...... told her to get rid of everything and get a filter, and asked why she went and got fish without me there.... she said cause she wanted to ( or she can ) one of the two.... im done helping her...

Best you can do is direct her to this website or at least some literature on cycling and proper stocking. Some people just wont listen so unfortunately your best path may be to just let her learn on her own and hope the fish dont suffer too much...

Thinking when her fish don't last long she will do one of two things...beg you for help, or stop keeping fish. I'm hoping she chooses the first option. Doug, you can lead a horse to water.....

Have a tank ready for when hers crashes, whe'll want to give you the survivors. Also, tell her in small words (like "dead" and "will" sized) that if she doesn't give eveyrthing back she will lose all the money she spent on the fish and that you won't help her. Bet half the fish atre dead already though... she'll learn the hard way that fish atren't easy to care for and will probably leave the hobby. Is she the sort to learn from mistakes or to take advice when proven wrong?

I have a question, did she ask you for your help or opinions and blow you off or did you simply try to over power her and then get upset when she ignored you?

let her learn the lesson her own way, when all her fish are dead and the tank water smells like a ruptured sewage pipe maybe she will listen if not well shes on her own. i wouldnt waste anymore time telling her anything since she knows it all apparently.
