My snail

As some of you know, for as long as I have been keeping tanks, I have NEVER been able to have snails (well anything other than pond and mts) survive in my tanks. Since I moved last year, I decided to try snails again in my new water source that is harder than my old water source. I have had 4 blue mystery snails for the past month or so and they are growing nicely and seem to be doing really well. I have them by themselves, other than pond and mts, in a 20 long.

Here's a picture of the one that is growing the fastest, was the only one I could get a clear shot on tonight.

I got them from petsmart. A word about that. The one that I purchased these guys from had lovely plants and had the snails in the plant tanks. I went to a more local one recently and there snails well, were empty shells for the most part and they had them in a tank with fish. There plants werent as good there as they were at the other one either. So, the quality pretty much depends on the luck of the draw as to which one you go to, IMO.
 
Thanks! Im really happy that I have a snail that is growing healthy. Surprisinly, as long as ive been in aquaria, as simple as it seems with a snail this is my first. I feel like a proud momma..lol.
 
gee, wish the petsmart near me was half as good as yours. Congrats on the snails! You know, oddly enough, I find shrimp easier to photograph than snails. Snails are constantly moving, but shrimp will at least stay still to eat!

Do your little ones have names?
 
I havent named them yet, but Im getting close to..LOL. I didnt want to jinx myself.

The petsmart I got them from is about 2 hours from me. I purchased these snails when I went to pick up my 125. The quality of the fish, plants, and snails are almost worth a drive back. It was really nice. My more local one isnt that nice.
 
yeah my local one, (Which is the closest) Isn't really all that close, its like 1 1/2 hours from me, and they treat their snails like crap... crappy condition and all...i bought 4 brigs from them, 2 blue 2 black, well first a black dies, i took it back because my friend and i were heading into charleston anyway (Thats where petsmart is located) Well hes still alive and the other Original black is still alive... but both my blues passed.... I Miss them alot... i loved my snails, and took VERY Good care of them... and it really really makes me mad how petsmart was treating them... they had really bad cracked shells, they had holes in their shells, some were just shells... It broke my heart... so that is why i bought 4... was only going to get 2... but thought i would save as many as possible!!! Whew... sorry for the long Post!!! LOVELY Snailies BTW
