Okay, my sand sifting star fish is starting to desinigrate! It is still alive and trying to climb up the tank walls but two of it's tips have fallen off! Is it dying? I am pretty sure that it is, which is a huge disapointment! It has been doing awesome! I have been feeding it and there is ton of brown algae for it to eat so I don't know what is wrong with it. I'm going to try to get a picture of it for this post but I don't know if it will work. :(

conditions of water

Well, I don't know right now. I am on the tailend of cycling and been doing water changes. All I have in the tank is a skunk shrimp and 40lbs of live sand and another 40 of live rock. And the seastar of course. It is still alive today but I don't know the levels. I'll check them tonight and update.

1) Sand shifting stars (all stars in general) are very sensitive to water quality--ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, salinety, ect.
2) SS-stars only eat the stuff in the sand (bacteria, worms, ect), what are you trying to feed it.
3) Generally when a star develops those "white tips", it's a goner--sorry.
