So I've put a lot of effort in trying to keep my fish alive......
And it worked!
But now I have a new problem...MY WATER IS GREEN!
I've been doing water changes every week...and one day I actually bought the gravel cleaner from Aqua..something or other...I had some trouble with the thing that attaches to the faucet not fitting (my faucet doesn't have ridges to screw on). I taped it with electrical tape and I finally got it working...but the suction power wasn't strong enough and the gravel didn't get sucked up properly...
AT ANY RATE!! After that, I kinda gave up on the gravel cleaner because it took 4 hours for me to figure it out and I got very frustrated and tired..

After I refilled the tank and put water conditioner in it, the water wasn't too murky looking after it settled down a bit.
However..two days later, the tank turned GREEN. It was very all of a sudden and annoying because I didn't know why this was happening. My mom and I took out all the fish and did a 75% water change to no avail.
Here are pictures of the nasty green water.
I have an algae eater...who doesn't seem to be doing its job for whatever reason..

Anyone know what's going on? What should I do at this point?

Well, my fist first thing to say is, unplug that heater if the water is still that low! Either unplug it or lower it into the water. What kind of filter do you have? How long have you had the tank? Did you cycle it first? Was that the first time you ever cleaned the gravel or was it just the first time with a vac like that? Any info that may help us find the problem, or help us make you a better fish keeper would be nice to know.

Did you unscrew the screen on the faucet? is this a kitchen faucet or is it in the bathroom?, just checked I can unscrew the end of my bathroom faucet too. Then one of the adapters should fit so you can hook it up. If it's not going to work use a fish only bucket and fill the tank. And post the size of tank, stocking level, and maintenace schedule, and someone will be able to help you. What kind of lighting do you have and how long are the lights on. Welcome to AClinda

Oh crap that heater is a submergible heater! I totally spaced out on that. Thanks for that tip. I just filled the tank up a bit more and met the minimum water level on the heater. ~_~I'm not too sure on the size of the tank because I didn't buy it, and I'm kind of bad with measurements...But my mom thinks it might be 60 gallons. I have a few guppies (I'm not sure how many now because I can't even see them), I have platies, 2 Dalmation fish, 2 ghost catfish, an algae eater, 2 neon tetras, and a school of peacock endler fry. I think one of my guppies also gave birth, so those babies should be somewhere too.As for lighting, I'm not too familiar with them, but I have one long bulb and it's on almost 24/7. If I remember, I turn it off at night sometimes. I didn't know that the lighting had any effect on the aquarium. O-oI have 2 filters in the tank and I'm not really sure what kind they are, but they are the fully submergible kind.I didn't know about cycling until after I got my fish. My fish tank has been with my family for 10+ years, and up until 2008 my dad took care of the tank. He didn't really do any kind of maintenance with the tank other than a water change every couple months, adding fish and feeding them. When my parents got a divorce, nobody took care of that tank and all the fish died except two. This year I thought it was really disgusting (The water was BROWN), so my friend and I put the fish into a bowl and cleaned out EVERYTHING. We emptied the gravel into buckets, took the buckets up to a bathtub that nobody uses, and scrubbed the gravel clean. Scrubbed the entire tank clean too. Then we filled up the aquarium, I went out and got a heater and filter for it, and added more fish. Bought water conditioner, ammonia detoxifier, and added it to the tank.

You may have to start over. I know it sucks. But Ive done it before. Just take everything out and restart your tank. You need to wash the gravel and everything to get the Algae from not coming back sometimes. This is in a serious case though.

I think just doing partial water changes every other day with gravel vac would be sufficient, but you do need to reduce the light I'd say to 8 hours a day if you have live plants or to only when in the room for fake plants

i really like the shape of that tank. It's like a corner tank but not a tall tank, and if it's 75 gallon, that would be a pretty sweet African cichlid tank. Anyhoo, I'd probably take out all the fish and ask a local fish store if they could take care of them for a month or so, or you could just donate them until you get the tank in order. the light is what's causing the green water, but you probably have cycling issues also. Like someone said, you should probably start over. It's going to take time, but we've all been there, having to spend time on fish tanks. It's all worth it in the end. good luck.

+1 on starting over, and also, I really have no idea how an algae eater will clean "water" lol;) good luck though:)algae eaters clean algae on the glass.......good luck, hopefulyl you might have other tanks to put the fish in tempo. or just donate like said above^
