my tank redesigned...coments? (pics)

I sent you a private message on how to build the cave, Holly.

Yes vacuuming was absolutly impossible inside it. Also as tight as I thought i got all the rocks eventually some would fall off albeit small rocks but they would fall sometimes really close to my fish. The substrate I put on top of it would ALWAYS fall off and I would have to fix it. Constructing it was a huge pain in the arse, took hours to build.

#2 looks best (for my tastes), although #1 was done well for its different style. Just a thought about openning up the center...how about openning up one side instead? Maybe building up a rock slope with that slate you mentioned, with only a few judiciously(sp?) placed smaller plants on that side. My original thought was do this on the left side where the lighter colored gravel is, but...if done the other way there would be a nice flow of plants starting with the terrestial plants in planter box, through left side of aquarium, to the open area on the right.

You're very artistic, Tbone...I like your ideas.

While the original is not to my tastes, the new setup is quite handsome. Very nice :thm:

the original is not quite my taste, but I think I like it better. It was pulled off better. Although with a little more work and time the new design could be great.

edit-oops, odiechef beat me to it

But it does look a little crowded, although I'll leave that for now just because it looks "natural". But later I might clean it up Lol. I am always tweaking it.
Tbone,
I would hold off tweaking it abit.. Let things grow out before moving them again, see how it looks in a few weeks. I personally love the tightness of a heavy planted tank.
