Well, I finally got the male swordtail, along with some supplies; Pepso food for intestinal parasites and some frozen bloodworms. Other than that, the new ottos have faired pretty well, getting plenty of that brown algea. Noticed the swords like it too. They also seemed to be grazing on some dark hair-like algea growing on the anubias. I've realized these fish in particular can stop on a dime in the water. All the fish in there really show more character than I think many people not in the hobby would admit. It really pays off to sit down and watch your tank for a good while, just to see what's going on in there among the fish pecking orders. Plants are also doing well. My anubias are sprouting new leaves on regular basis now. I'm going to cut up the hornwart and plant it in the gravel this weekend when I do my water change. It seemed to do better that way for me that way than floating. Soon, I'd really like to try some java ferns or amazon swords. In the mean time, I have some questions.
1. If a light fixture has a white reflecter behind the bulb, just how much
does this increase the light, if any?
2. Does the wpg rule always have to be applied? Obviously, there are some
people out there who have managed to keep a decent planted tank with
below 1 wpg of lighting.
3. What's your experience with the above mentioned topic?
THANX
My parrot is sitting on my shoulder right now laughing at the TV, he does that sometimes.
