just want to give you very helpful members an update. the first set of barbs i got, i ended up returning and got my in store credit. not to self: dont buy from petco anymore.
i then went to petsmart (not any better i know) and got 12 new tiger barbs. for a whole month they were GREAT! then a 1-3 died off slowly, and also my bristle nose died for some reason. after the first few barbs died, they slowly started to show the exact same symptoms of the last batch of barbs. floating around, not doing anything. sunken in bodies. some losing control of themselves, acting dead, then getting a grip and swimming fine. so i returned those, and got my money back (wow, good luck as far as that) and now im done with petsmart.
now all thats in my tank is my two GBR's. im treating for ich, cause previously i had seen flicking, and one barb had a single grain on his body.. so im playing it safe and treating with heat/salt anyway. the rams have always been fine, except the male ive seen have long strands of white-ish poop. last time i saw it, a few days ago it was on for 24 hours. today i noticed more white ish poop. and by that i mean, all of the poop is white except a few random beads of brown. so im assuming all of this was ALL due to internal parasites and for some reason the gbr's have just been handling it better. im picking up parasite clear by tetra today, and treating. in a few weeks, ill be going to my LFS that i got my rams from and getting new (more compatible) fish for my tank.
