I have attached here a picture of my first tank, my 55 gallon. I have had 6 zebra danios for 2 weeks+ and am planning to add a school of rasboras. I also have all live plants. All the aponogentons have grown from tiny brown bulbs.

I am thoroughly enjoying the experience ... yeayyy :dance

Any comments and suggestions for additional fish are most welcome. I was thinking on the lines of a few bottom feeders and a couple of German Blue rams.

Wow, it looks great! :D

100% better than my first tank

Question ...

Thanks for the compliments !! :) I had been so anxious and almost paranoid during the entire time... planning and trying to balance everything so that I neither overdo or 'underdo' anything. But resources on the internet and especially this website have been invaluable in helping me along the way. In fact it is the forums here that cleared up confusion whenever it arose.

Kudos to all the nice and helpful folks out there!

I have a question, I just added small espei Rasboras to give company to my zebra danios. Are there any special water conditions that the rasboras need or would they adapt ?

My tank's ph is 7.6 while I have heard Rasbora's prefer acidic water.

as long as you let the rasboras aclimate- if there is any difference in the ph of your tank and the tank at the store where you got the fish- the rasboras should be fine.

a consistent ph even though it may not be optimum for the fish is better than trying to change it, also 7 is neutral and the scale is not linear between the numbers up and down the scale so the difference between 7.2 and 7.6 is alot less than the difference between 8.2 and 8.6 in actuall concentration of ions

if u get rams only get a male and female. they will pair up and look alot more colourful but wont necesarilly spawn although they might.
