Like the title says!

About a month ago I caught four Mystery Snails in a lake by my grandfathers house. Crazy little invasive buggers. Anyway today before heading off to work I happened to look in the tank and spotted a baby! Then I noticed a few more and a few more. . . I think I have ten little tiny babies.

I just checked on them when I took the pix and it seems I am having more babies! I got a shot of one of the adults with this little round thing and inside it is a snail. When I saw these earlier this morning they were completely transparent and this one looks a little opaque, I'm not sure what that means, but I am gonna do another water change in a few hours.

I'm msjinkzd! I know everything! Yada yada yada!

That's my impression of you Rach!

But yeah, those are Trapdoors. Cute snails those are.

Thanks for the clarification.

I dont remember who told me on my ID thread that they were Mystery Snails, but that was the general consensus. I had thought from what I read that true mystery snails were in the viviparus genus but had six or seven spirals, my guys have five. So trapdoors they are. I did remember reading that if they weren't apple snails and had the same shape they were livebearers.

The Viviparidae family were the original Mystery Snails, and scientific papers will still use that name (eg: Chinese Mystery Snail rather than Chinese Trapdoor Snail), but in aquaria, they're usually called Trapdoor Snails, and the name Mystery Snail is given to Pomacea diffusa instead.

Ok, I think I got it this time. Lol, thanks :D
