well for me its not necessary because i need a focal point and i made this painting for my art class. Thanks for the comments
Hey nice start! I'm a junior in college focusing on some sort of art major =P I mainly focus on drawing but I do enjoy painting. I'm guessing your working with acrylic?
A few tips that I have for you that I learned last semester would be first drawing a controur of the whole painting in pencil. First start painting in the background working with the whole canvas. Meaning not to focus on one section at a time... like first painting in a tree trunk completley, than the leaves, than the grass, than the sky. Once you fill in the background start working with the whole subject matter. Again not focusing on one bit at a time. Always find time to take a step back and have a moment to view your piece as if you saw it for the first time. Of course, enjoy what you do and learn as much as you can from other class mates and teachers. If they say the don't like it ask why... If they say they like it as why.
