Just picked this up yesterday from a local Acrylic builder. It's an 18 gal. self contained unit. I put 40lbs of live sand in it and may end up pulling some back out over the next few days. The water is fresh from the livewell on my buddies boat. Right now all the parameters are perfect :D I'll be heading over to TBS ASAP for my LR. I'm expecting no cycle as I experienced with my 36 gal that I set up the same way.

I'll be replacing the bio balls soon with some coral and LR. At this point, I'm going to use this tank for growing smaller frags and some other experimenting. I have a 125w MH unit on the way as well.

If anyone is interested, I'll be glad to ad pics as I update the tank.

Just in time, my Hammer Coral is about ready to prune!! :dance

I think the overgrown BTA might have scared it into splitting :p

Made the trip to TBS today. Called first, good thing, they were busy as usuall! I learned a few things after my first LR purchase. The first time around I went with the wildest, critter covered rock I could find. This time, I went for more bare LR in the shape and size that I wanted. I even pulled off a lot of the green sponge and other stuff that slowly died off on my first batch. I left the red, orange and black sponge along with several brain corals and nice established brown cup corals. I also did a much more thorough hitchhicker check, no octos this time........I hope  My goal with this setup is to have maximum room for corals with no other STUFF in the way!!

I also picked up a bunch of small pieces of LR for my filter, the sump in my big tank and to put softie frags on. Having a sump to store pieces of LR is nice :)
