While looking at the occupants this morning, I made an interesting discovery. A snail. He's about 1/4" in size. Now .... here's where it gets interesting. There has been nothing added to the tank for weeks. No plants, no fish....just clean tap water for water changes. The last couple of additions have been fish only and the water from the LFS was not added to the tank. Didn't have time to get any pics to post but will do so tonight (or next time I find him).

The last snails I had (two mystery snails) past away some two to three weeks ago. I have not noticed any type of egg clutches that they would have left. So...if there is some possibility that this guy might just be a mystery snail...how long would it take to hatch and mature?

I really don't think it is one but boy does it confuse me to see him in that the last plant I added was nearly two months ago.

I had a snail pop up about 6 or 7 weeks after I added a plant to my tank several months ago. The bad thing is, one turned into nearly a 100 now, though it seems as if many of the little guys have died off.

well...after much trying...i just could not get a good clear picture of him. everything comes up too blurry to see. any thoughts...i'm searching on pond snails...i think that may be it. looking for a pic of a baby mystery snail.

i would find it highly unlikely to be a mystery snail as there clutches produce 50-100 baby snails and you would have probably noticed a clutch. Its more likely a pond snail. good luck.

msjinkzd, your purple / magenta snail looks cool with the golden body. my purple apples have purple bodies with red spots on them.
