I'm working on setting up another tank to raise a bunch of Angels and today I noticed these little white bugs on the glass. I took all the fish and plants out of the tank a couple weeks ago and I'm cycling it before I add the fish again. They "creatures" are super-small and white. I noticed a few on the glass. Could they be daphnia? Might they be something harmful to the fish and if so what is the best way to get rid of them? thx.

not sure what they are, but I've seen them in all my tanks from time to time. You mean "super small" like so small you shouldn't even be seeing them with the naked eye, but you are? right?

yup, super super tiny. I figure that if they're harmless, the angel fry will eat them. I just don't want them to be a harmful parasite that'll hurt the fish.

I've not had any problems with them

Daphnia would tend to be at gravel level moving in a zigzag (kinda hopping) way. If they’re gliding on the glass & other surfaces, most likely planaria. Extra gravel vacuuming and less feeding will cut back their numbers if there’s a population explosion.

Planaria will eat dead fish, fish eggs, and immobile fish larvae (fry newly hatched). They do not pose any risk to mobile fry or adult fish.

i had these too and panicked that they were ICH we had a bout of it in our tank and i think we cured it, using extr aheat, salt and meds. then when i was cleaning the glass lid i noticed thesethings and thought they might be ICH aagin, but i don't htink it is coz it has been there a few weeks and we have had no more ICH, i just wiped them off and now i only saw a couple last time i looked!
