Well, it's the update none of us wanted to hear, *sigh*.
Before I went to bed last night, I did one more tank check, and the two that had been on their sides were dead, no surprise. I pulled them out, and put them in a cup of water to save for photos and freezing in the morning.
Woke up this morning, planning on doing a WC and treating with malachite green again. This time I WAS surprised to find my two remaining gudgeons dead. They were doing very well yesterday, but perhaps the organism had simply done too much damage.
So, the tank is empty now.
I just need a little more help, to clean up the remainder of this mess.
I plan to empty the tank, and clean it with a bleach/water solution, then let dry for several days. I don't think anything should survive that.
What should I do with the sponge filters? I suppose I have to nuke them with something. Bleach solution? Or, will they be fine if I just dry them out completely?
I assume I'll want to clean or chuck all decorations. I'll throw away the pvc tubes and gravel. Only a couple of plants, so I'll just chuck them.
I also have the HOB. Should I chuck the media? Rinse the whole unit with bleach solution? Just let it all dry out?
I also have some additional images.
First the two that dies last night.
And these are the ones who I found this morning.
And the whole group.
