Exactly what I thought... He obviously beamed himself into to tank-no other reasonable explanation! *going to put tinfoil on the other fishes' heads now*
 
Update - as everyone suspected, it's a guppy. His tail lost the odd shape and grew more rounded. He has started to get less funny looking and is a pretty nice looking male yellow/green guppy. He has been moved (back) to the 55 gallon guppy tank he must've come from. I'm still a little baffled on how he walked into another tank. Had to have hitched a ride in the python - that must've been one crazy ride! Lucky little fish!
 
thanks for the update! So often these questions or topics come up, get people fascinated or at least involved, and then just piffer out with no resolution given. Great to get a definite answer for once. :)
