I got a phone call from a friend who asked me if i
could come around and identify some fry for her.
She found some tiny fry inside the filter when she
went to clean it, rescued them and put them in a breeder net.
She says that there had been a lot of. eggs stuck to
the side of the tank a few days previous.
The fish that she had in her 75g community tank were...

2 x common pl*co's, (i know)
6 x tiger barbs,
10 x neon tetras
4 x Buenos Aires tetra.
4 x glow light tetras
6 X Corydoras
4 x mollies

Here's a couple of pics of the fry below,
see what you think they might be.
i'm guessing pl*co's

BTW... The fry range in size from 1-3 cms

Are their mouths on the bottom of their bodies? Or on the front?
Its kinda hard to tell, but if the mouths are on the front of their bodies, my money is on the mollies.

Edit: I just read the part that said the eggs were on the glass.
If those fry are from those eggs it could also be the cories...
Gah! Almost all fry look the same :p

I would bet money on mollies they are one of the easiest fish to get to breed and as they just showed up they most likely came directly from there mother and were sucked into the filter. Tetras are egglayers and they would have been noticed spawning.

eggs on the side could be from snales if there are any in the tank

He didn't mention snails, and the cory fry do not look like that. My money is also on the mollies.

what type of mollies? im not too knowledgeable on them, but most mollie fry ive seen are black, im sure theres alot of different kinds though, so i would also say they are mollies. egs throw me off though, i would also think snail eggs if there are any snails. most egg layers have to be propperly conditioned to lay eggs and wouldnt just pop up out of nowhere.

I would also guess mollie fry, but since you mention eggs, I would think its safe to assume it could very well be the tiger barbs or the cories, though the shape of the fry suggest against that.

I'd put about $20 on molly fry myself.. ;) Judging from the various sizes of the fry you are looking at fish that are several weeks old.. not just a few days, and also very likely from separate clutches. And egg layer fry are always sooo small. Growth wouldnt be good enough to get to 1-3cm in a few days unless they were livebearer fry. (Or, if you didnt mean cm and meant mm instead).

I think everyone would be shocked how long fry can make it in a filter. I had kribensis fry find their way into a Aquaclear mini and hold on for two whole weeks before I discovered them. Some were very small... but alive.
