Mystery snail help

I would not be too excited about snails mating, because soon you'll have hundreds of mystery snails in a 10 gal. tank looking for food, making a mess, and leaving you wondering where you're gonna find homes for all of them. I am looking for homes for my snails, and have decided if I can't, then "escargo" recipes will be in my kitchen, lol.

Ok everyone I have good news!!! I crushed up a cuttle bone and put it in there and poof! My snail looks healthier already. Its moving around but is still not eating much although it might be eating the little evil snails in the tank that ate my fish :mad2:. Any way, I have drift wood in the water and at the moment thhis tank is out of commision as the light is broke so its only the snail in there still. The shell isnt really looking a whole lot better but its moving around more so im content.

Bad news! My snail has a hole in its shell now. I've read about patching a shell but i dont know how. Any suggestions?

My Betta is in a diffrent tank O.o and his does perfectly fine with other fish contrary to popular belief.

I was just wondering but do you hav a seperater or a breeding net to keep the betta away from the mollies???? if not remove the betta immediatley

Many Bettas do just fine with other fish. Contrary to popular belief, many Bettas make great community tank fish.

if it has a siphon, it's an apple snail, not a regular mystery snail. This is generally a very cool thing, but check your state laws on apple snails and make extra sure that yours don't get out into the wild.
As Reframer said, "mystery snails" do indeed have siphons. And while you should make sure they don't get out into the wild for their own sakes, you don't need to worry about laws and such with bridgesii/diffusa as they are not classified as pests because they don't eat plants.

Also, on your driftwood - be aware that it may well be lowering your pH - adding to your snail's shell issues (depending on where you started).

Lots of people have differing opinions on this, but in my experience, I've always found that cuttlebone eventually rots in the tank - messing with the chemistry. Maybe give him a vacation feeder as a calcium source (replace it as soon as its gone)?

So I have given the snial metioned in this thread to my mom got me a bigger tank and bought 1 blue and 1 black apple snail. I found out last night the black is female and the blue is male. Bet you can guess how! Ive found 3 egg sacks so far and have another tank ready for when they hatch to put them in but i was wondering the do's and donts with these eggs.
