My mystery snail is on her 5th clutch... and there hasn't been another snail in the tank for about 6 months. Is there any way these eggs are fertilized? The last 4 clutches did not hatch. I just left them on top of the tank... did I screw up? Thanks!

She's likely laying infertile clutches. That's normal, part of a female snail's healthy activity. 
what flaringshutter said , and never feel bad about freezing them even if they were fertile, not everyone is equipped for a ton of baby snails and its a responsible choice to make when deciding to house apple snails.
