Remember that even if you use them as a clean up crew, they will need to be target fed a calcium rich diet to ensure longevity and shell health. Things like green veggies are very good for this. Hope you find the missing snail!

What kind of green veggies specifically?

Mine seem to like zucchini, cucumber, and green beans best. I find the easiest thing to do is to buy frozen french cut green beans. They can be sunk using a chip clip and its easy to not overfeed with them with the size they are cut. They defrost quickly in the tank and don't require any microwaving as they are ableto be eaten immediately. There is a recipe thread stickied in the top of this seciton that also has a link to different veggies and their calcium contents. Hope this helps

Cutting the screen will expose it to the moist air above your tank; It will rust. Mine did.

i agree with what other people have said. i would say tho that the snails dont really like sand as a substrate and prefare gravel.
