Hey guys, new to the forum! My names E and I currently have a 30g freshwater tank. I have two goldfish, a fancy goldfish, two balloon mollies, a red parrot, male and female bettas, one pleco, two bamboo shrimp and an african filter shrimp. I did have a female red claw but she recently passed away due to old age :( . The tank itself has two pieces of drift wood and many pieces of obsidian. thanks!

Hi Crab, welcome to AC.

Hate to tell ya, but, your tank is way inappropriately stocked.

Not trying to be offensive or a mad dog, but you have to remove the red parrot, all of the goldfishes and the common pleco.. these guys get huge 10+ inches plus, so you wouldn't want that in your 30 gallon now, do you? Besides the fish you have all together probably may not get along anyhow in the future. Btw tropical warmwater fish and coldwater fish don't mix. Mixing goldfish and cichlids is a big no...they both have different temperature needs...they may be okay now but it may be quite stressful for the goldfish since they like it cooler.

My advice: Keep the two balloon mollies, the bettas and the shrimps. I think I know what type of setup you are looking for..community, right? Fish that are social and peaceful towards each other? Well if you want that, research! I suggest adding a good school of neon tetras like 5 or 6 after removing the fish. Rainbowfish like Dwarf precox rainbows as centerpiece fish, rasboras, rummynose tetras, phantom tetra, etc. these fish stay small and will not harass others

Thanks for your advice, I wasnt really sure about the parrot, my gf begged me to get it lol. As for the goldfish I have had them in 79 degree water for the past year and they are all doing fine. The pleco went from baby to about 5 inches and is doing great as well. None of them fight and the crab is the only thing ive had die, and like i said that was from old age. Not to disagree with you obvious knowledge, just stating my experience so far.

Oh okay. Just be sure to do what you gotta do eventually. :)

welcome to AC! and as NeonFlux said, be prepared to remove some fish from that tank, as it will not work out in the long term.

Yea as i said before iam really uneasy about that parrot. I saw some of the huge ones at the lfs and unfortunately my gf had love at first site on a smaller one. So should i try and trade it back to them or what? I have kept crabs forever and I know everything about those little guys. Also, will i really need to remove the pleco? That guy is great at keeping my tank clean, maybe when he gets really big i can get him his own tank. Oh yea, a new crab tank is getting setup soon :)

A crab tank? Cool, dedicated to crabs only, eh? Nice! A little reminder, don't add the neon tetras with crabs, the crabs will probably claw them and eat them if you ever decide to mix the two together in a tank.

Well its gonna a semi big crab to hopefully his own 10g with maybe a betta. I dont have room for the reddie to have his own right now though. I have pics of the current setup
