My amazon sword is about 2.5 weeks old. The edges of the leaf are going yellow with some brown color on it. LFS told me that some old leaves may die. I read Chuck's chart and it sounds like calcium...but then again, I am a noob.

Tank: 75G
Substrate: Eco-Complete with 20% gravel on top/
CO2: Excel, pressurized starting friday
Lights: 2.13WPG, waiting for my new setup to arrive to take it up to 3.5WPG
Ph: 7.5
Kh: 5
GH: 10
NO3: 10 (approx)
PO4: 1
K: 10 (I dosed enough to reach that level on the last water change)
Ca: added 2tbs of CaCl with last water change
Mg: 1/2tbs with last water change
FE: Dose Flourish Iron, 1ml daily
Flourish: For traces does 3x a week

Which leaves are turning yellow? From the pic, it looks like an outside leaf which would be old growth which (if you look at chucks chart) could be magnesium. Likely it's just an old leaf (gasp! LFS was right!?!) and is just plain dying off. If it is an old outside leaf, just trim it off...it's unsightly ;)
If not, let us know.

er...is that 2 Tablespoons of CaCl and 1/2 Teaspoons of MgSO4 you're adding at water changes? How long have you been doing that?

i dont have enough light in my tank, so my big amazon sword did that on all of its old big leaves and grew out smallerones... now i have a small amazon sword plant... that pic is what my leaves look like as they start to die, and the spots are where the snails have been eating i think...

the leaves can also fall off from moving stress...

Thanks, I get my light sometime this week (hopefully). I'll trim off the old growth.
