I have also posted below a pic of the algea remover i was told to use, but i dont know if its just me being impatient or if its not working..i was to put it in my 55 gal for the first 3 days and now every other week...

All we have been talking about all day it seems. ;) Brown=diatoms, light red=start of cyano that isn't that bad yet. Don't really need to repeat the other posts.. just read the posts in the Marine section from today for advice and choose the route you think is best for you out of the suggestions posted.

I hate "magic in a bottle" products like the one in the picture, never work as advertised from my experience, but I haven't tried that one myself so can't comment... just recommend you look for the cause and solution to the problem rather than looking for a "quick fix in a bottle" because if the bottle does work, when it runs out your problem will come right back.

I would refrain from using chemicals just yet!

General consensus says to reduce feedings, make sure your light fixture bulbs are not very old, healthy amount of flow, some water changes with surface vacuuming..sometime it takes a long battle to win!

1, How 'old' is the tank?

2, What is your water source? Tap? RO/DI?

3, Can you test your sources for silicates & phosphates?

I'm battling cyano myself, but I'm going about it a different way than most...and I hope I win. We will see! Goodluck, you have some labor ahead of you!

Wouldn't that just be Cyano? Mine started out extremely deep purple, so much it was almost black in different light...it's now faded down to a light magenta...what is left of it at least.

I don't know what it is. I know it's only in a couple of spots and that's on coral skeletons.
