Nano cubes

I've had an aquapod which is like a nanocube, for about 8 months now, I have no heater in the tank and no skimmer, and it's been doing great. and the best part I found out recently is the mechanical filtration, doesnt need replacing... just pull it out and rinse. the one negative I had with thi is, rusting of screws that hold the protective over over the lamps and fan (I would suggest adding a dab of aquarium safe silicone, and when you need to actually access the screws, simply cut away the silicone)

The other thing I've read about these nanos is that the have a tendency of cracking at the rounded edges. I've yet to experience anything like that. I think it's all about putting it somewhere with a flat surface and that won't eventually warp from the weight (avg 250-275)

dnajarro, good bit of very usefull infomation there on nano's...but are you able to answer the origional question as to whether the lights are on a seperate cord so tab64 can fit a timer to it?

Hope you can help mate..if not, will look into it myself..

Thanks in advance

Niko

Tab64...just been looking over nanocubes, 90 litres for example, the write says that they have a ballast in there with a switch that can switch between the different installed tubes..If your nano's are the same as ours in the UK, which they seem exactly the same, each piece of equipment has its own lead, so the answer would be yes, you can install a timer on the lighting..

Hope that helps

Niko

Thanks Niko, that will help I could not find a site that actually answered that question.

dnajarro that was interesting info on the sides on the tank splitting. That may answer why I saw sites with brands other than nano stating about the seams and wall thickness be better.

I have a 24g nano running lights are on timers but my moonlight turns off a well. probably will get the moonlight fix in the future. check out nanotuners

I can't say anything for the nano, Since I don't own one, but from my aquapod... there are 4 cords coming from it, 2 for compact florescent, 1 for the moon light, and 1 for the pump.

I have my lets set up in this manner:
• Moon lights are on 27/7
• CF with fan turns on at 8am and off at 9pm
• the other CF turn on at 9am and off at 8pm

I've basically tried setting a cycle that is a little more natural for the fish
