i found this while just looking around on cichlid forum. its called the Microdontochromis rotundiventralis. it doesnt give any info about it but by the shape of the body it looks like a sandsifter. what is it?

Yeah these are great fish Austin if you can land some do so.. Eddie at Bluegrass has a colony and he isn't letting them go with out breeding them first i so want a colony of them very badly.. I believe they are a sand sifting mouth brooder and do quite nicely in a colony and stay fairly mid sized 3 to 4 inches really not overly aggressive and look more like a sardine with hues of coloration.. a beautiful fish..

Hey pappy you are right Eddie was calling them by that name..

so are can they be kept in smaller tanks than the typical sandsifter since they are smaller. idk.

I wouldn't at least a 30gal long would be minimal or better yet if you can get a 33gal long would be sweet it is the same footprint of a 55gal in length wise..

wow. what are the dimentions of that. its 20gs shorter but the same length???

its basically cut in half just not as tall as a 55gal..

ah. that would be nice to have. cuz i dont like to have a tall tank. that would be fun. im assuming you have to special order
