No on the peacock, as they are African cichlids that need different water conditions. The problem with the severum is mostly due to its size. If you want a Central American cichlid, I'd go with Rainbow cichlids (Herotilapia multispinosa) instead of firemouths.

All the fish I mentioned above are readily available at my lfs...it kind of hard finding some of the fish that other members have suggested...I used to have a african cichlid tank and it had many barbs in it without any problems....I dont know if some of you guys could suggest where I might be able to get a hold of these recommended cichlids especially the Laetacara curviceps, Rainbow cichlids, and other colorful cichlids also if you could recommend some that are mid-level water fish

The curviceps are generally relatively common, and even a large chain store like PetsMart carries them most of the time. Rainbows in particular I've never seen at any of my LFS. Your LFS could probably order you some curviceps as they are widely available.

rams, german blues. beautiful fish. gold rams are nice also if you are looking to add a splash of orange.

The petsmart where I live really sucks....they just have the basic stuff and half of the time the people working there dont even know what they are talking about....I called one time to the store to ask if they sold glofish and they said no because they are saltwater fish....I explained to them that they were zebra danios and they still argued that they are saltwater fish...
