need a small snail eater

i have 3 kuhlis and 1 clown but i dont think any of these guys are interested in eating snails! my population of snails is insane and my fish aren't doing a thing about it! UGHHHHHHH!!!!

One thing you can do to simplify the problem is cut back on the feedings. Snails generally proliferate so massively because there is ample food available to keep them going. If you feed only enough for the fish, you should see less and less..... you can also try the lettuce (or any other green veg) in the shot glass trick.... I'm not so sure how well it works because I've never tried it but might be worth a try if you're limited on the available fish is your area.

Good Luck

Dog, there isn't much you can do with that 2.5 gallon tank. It is really too small for the fish you have. 2 frogs and a betta should be in a 10 or at least a 5 gallon tank. I wouldn't worry too much anout snails though. First they don't hurt anything and second as long as you feed sparingly and do good water changes witha gravel vacuum things should be fine. My betta tanks snail population never gets large.

Try stopping feeding your tank for a few days. If the khulies and clown aren't egting fed perhaps the snails will look much tastier. And a few days without food won't hurt any healthy tank.

thanks guys! has any one witnessed fish eating snails? how do they do it? take a loach for example - do they suck the snail out somehow or what? just curious cause i've never seen this before

I saw one of my mollies suck a small little snail into his mouth and quickly spit it out... Yeah, I know it doesn't help. I assume the loaches crack the shell and eat it.
