I saw some Jewel cichlids at work the other day. (I work in Petsmart grooming) They are so beautiful. I'd like to set up a Congo biotope or riparium. With the riparium I was thinking a 75 -90 gallon about half full or so. And then I would either place two juvies and hope the bond or buy a bonded adult pair.
However while I was researching this lovely cichlid I ran into pics of the congo tetra. Which I now also love. </3 I was wondering what kinda foot space I would need to keep a school of these and a pair jewels. I know there could be serious scraping anyway but I wanted to attemtp it as long as it wasnt too dangerous for either fish.
My plan with the congos would be to situate them first and allow them to grow to adult size and the add Juvie jewels. But I don't want to do anything that would harm the congos. So I wanted advice.
I also thought about a pair of kribs. As they are sligltly more docile. But not by much or so I read. But I really wanted red forest jewels.
Anyway I might be able to move from upstairs to downstairs so the sky is the limit on gallons then. (Well at least maybe a full 100 gallons) And I can get really big tanks and stands from a friend of my dads whose slowly phasing out of the fish hobby.
