need advice.. setting up a tank need help :)

I am setting up my fw tank I want to keep some dwarf african frogs and platies in the tank. I will have fake plants. I am using a pengiun mini filter for filtration.

Should I use play sand or gravel as a substrate? I have read good and bad things about both. I want to have something that I will not have to vacum every week.

how big is the tank?

play sand will get whipped up by the frogs to much. use pool filter sand instead.

it is 10 gallons, I was going to go with 5, but went with 10 instead.

where can you buy pool filter sand?

You can buy pool filter sand at any store that sells pools and sometimes even WalMart.

I called walmart they did not have it unfortunatly.

do you think that I should be concerned about the frogs legs getting caught in the intake on my power filter? It is a pengiun mini filter for 5-10 gallons.

I don't think that it the intake is strong but I don't know how strong the frogs are.
