Hello again,

I bought him/her today at the petstore. They sold it to me as a red zebra, I know this cichlid is not a red zebra. I got this cichlid for $6.99, it is approx 3.5"-4" long. It is like a orange/yellow color, with light, light brown/orange vertical bars. First off, can you please ID this cichlid. Also,is it a male or female. Thanks once again!

I believe that it is a red zebra (more likely tangerine). If so, since there are no egg spots on the anal fin leaves me to believe that it is a female.

It is indeed a red zebra

I agree with Egress on the other post that it's a Pseudotropheus lombardoi (kenyi).

I still go with my original opinion.. Kenyis dont have stripes wherass zebras have faint ones... your fish has stripes

its a bit lightly colored.. but IMO it will darken up-- I could be wrong but I think it looks more like the pic of the zebra than the kenyi

it is the color of a kenyi.. but the rest of it is zebra

maybe a hybrid? lol

I have no clue but it is a nice looking fish! Does anyone have a link to some good information on this type of fish?
