OK i am fishie cycling a 75 gallon tank. I have 4 Ginat Danios and Red HSoulder Severum in at this time. All seem to be doing well, eating etc. On day 7 i used Bio-SPira. AT thta time the LFS guy told me to use the product and then STOP doing my water changes cause if would slow down my cycle, which I could see. I am worried as I dont want the fish suffering. Is this right?? SHould I not continue to do water changes.

My ammonia is between .50 and .75 approx right now. Nitrites are beginning to show up, and no Nitrates as yet.

the bio spira should have been added when you added the fish..if not the bacteria will have some catching up to do. that said
I doubt the cycle will be interupted...you need to keep an eye on the water params as the ammonia and nitrites can cuase damage.

I would prob di a water change as those seem pretty high. with a water change you won;t remove all the ammonia and nitrites..so the bacteria will be abe to feed.

just wait 48 hours after you added the biospira to do a water change. by that time the bacteria will have found a surface to cling to and will no longer be floating in the water. water changes will then be helpful, removing only toxins and none of the bacteria.

i agree with chicken, i added bio- spira to my tank 5 days after i added 5 fish. wait 48 hrs. it took me 7 days after i added b spira. and i did 10 pwc in 7 days(20%) to help with ammonia. right near the end of my cycle my ammonia went to 1 ppm. i did 2 wc a day to help lower it. for some reason my nitrite balanced before my ammonia. hope this helps.
