Need fluorescent tube advice

I currently have GE Chroma 50 tubes on one of my tanks, but the 5000K looks too yellow for my taste. My Wal*Mart store also has GE Ultra and GE Plant & Aquarium tubes. Does anyone know the Kelvin rating on those two? Can anyone using them describe their appearance? Thanks!!

Home Depot etc sells 6500K's.
Not sure but the ultra's are higher color temps in that range.
Pass on the plant aquarium bulb.

Remember, this is not about the plant's needs etc here, your talking about the color of your own eyes' preception here.
The plants will do fine with either.
Some places have the bulbs lit on display.
Tritons have the best looking color of all the regular bulbs I've used but they cost a fair amount. They also last and grow plants well.

Those 6500K's should look just fine.

I've got the Phillips Daylight Ultras home HD and really like the look and color they give off... sorta a cool slightly bluish color. That fact that HD carries a 2-pack of them for under $6 is a real bonus too! That is the 48" size, 40 Watt!

Personally, I feel the 6,500 K bulbs give off a much better light for viewing... the 5,000 K bulbs were just too yellow for me.

FYI, the Plant and Aq bulbs look very pink and I don't care for them.

Good luck,
Bill C.
