Need good Filter

i have a fluval 305 on my 55 with UGF... the fluval is nice but i think i would go with a rena if the fluval didnt come with my tank

If you can afford it, I would go with an eheim. I especially like the eheim classic series. They are very efficient, so quiet you will never hear it,and very reliable. I have had mine for more then four years to date without incident. Once you have an eheim, you will never go back.

For a tank that size a good canister filter like the eheim, fluval, ot the rena is a better option then a HOB filter like the emperor.

Just to update everyone i went with the Magnum 350 I found one for a good price. Now my next question is what should i be useing as filter media inside it comes with carbon should i use that? I think i read somewhere that Carbon isnt that great. Also Im thinking about switching my powerheads to RUGF. What do i need to do for that? I know i should use a sponge but do i put one in my intake tubes?

why not get an emperor 400? those look to be the best in power filter filtration.

Yep. 2 Emp 400's on a 55gallon gives great water movement, and great filtration.

Plus, the inserts can be had (a full change for both units) for about $9 online....charcoal included.

Plus, I think you can get the Emporers for like $35 online, too.

But it's moot since he already bought something...;)
