MY Blue Acara appears to be bleeding at the base of all his fins and just above his mouth where i guess his nose is has a pinprick size of bloodred. I noticed this last week and it went away withing an hour but now it has been steady for a day and a half now. The ammonia is at 0 and the ph is at 7, i added some ph down to lower the ph a little but it hasn't kicked in yet.

Any information is more than appreciated.

Thankyou for your time, i will be around in about an hours time if you need more information.

Thankyou again

sorry bunch of questions.

so hes bleeding?
is there blood in the tank? or is it just a red spot?
are there any other fish in the tank?

but it sounds like a bacterial infection.from the information you provided.
can you take any pictures of it?

it appears that the base of his fins are bloated with blood and there is no blood in the tank. The tankmates are 4 bronze corys and a algae eater that looks like a flying fox, none of which pay attention to the blue acara. I am unable to supply any pictures :(

sorry i didnt get back to you sooneer but i had to work and go to school and all that crap.

need to consult my books since im not at home but i would treat with melafix, or biospheres anti bacterial, or other anti bacterial medicine, i will get more info for to later 2nite since i will be able to search my books for the exact disease.

j/w what size tank?
and how often you do water changes?

tank size is 33 gallons and water change is 50% monthly

The bleeding has gotten worse and it is very visible around his mouth and "nose" area.

I will treat the tank with melafix tonight asap.

does he have any other symptoms like fin rot, or small skin ulcers?
does the red appear in streaks or just spots?

if i were you i would also do a water change of about 25% every week. and/or quarrantine him.

just last night his fins appears to have black stuff on them, never noticed this before. Ever since trreating with melafix he has been a little more active but it just appears as if the bases of all this fins are filling with blood and 2 point on the corner of hismouth have little streaks of vlood in them. Still treating with melafix and will do the 25 percent water change after treatment as the instruction call for.

Any other ideas? All other fish are in perfect health.

I really want him to pull thru since he's pretty much the whole reason I got my tank :(

keep me posted on how that melafix turns out.
