Need HELP feeding Cardinal fish.

That's fair enough:grinyes: Like you say though, they are new and settling in, maybe they're just holding out for something better:grinyes:

I'd just persevere with trying different foods (but without breaking the bank on expensive cocktails!!!) and see how they get on. Did you see them eat at the LFS, if so what did they feed them?

Mine were picky eaters at first and I had get them to eat by buying live brine shrimp. I then moved onto frozen mysis two days later. I placed it by powerheads so it would look like live brine shrimp. They were fooled enough to try it and they liked it.

Hey Guys I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I went out after work today and got some frozen Brine Shrimp and it worked. They seem to love the stuff. I feel much better now that they are eating.

My next problem to take care of is the temp in the tank. It has been really hot here for the last few days and the tank keeps over heating. I had the heaters set at 77 for the winter but the tank keeps going over 80 even with my AC running all day and night. I have been floating bottles of frozen tank water in the sump to try and keep it down but I can't be here all day the change them. I have even been turning the light off for long periods of time but still it is at around 80. I don't really want to get a chiller for this thing. I haven't tryed the fan trick yet. Does anyone have any ideas about this one?

Thanks Sean,

It was 80 when I was typing the last mess but has been going as high as 85 at times. The alarm on my thermometer has been going off. What is the temp that I should worry at?

Thanks Sean,

I use these. I have a set in the sump that are on most of the time and a set on the display tank for when it gets really hot.

I went out today after work and picked up a big computer fan and set it up in the sump area. to soon to tell if it's going to work but I'll let you know.

The other thing is that one of the cardinals is dieing. He is laying on his side and breathing hard. I don't know what to do. I took him out of the main tank and put him in my fuge. I think he is done. The other one seems to be fine. They both eat yesterday but today only the one that is OK did. The tank is at 83 right now. Do you guys think the the temp has anything to do with it?

The temperature, while above average, wouldn't have been enough to cause that. To be honest, Banggais have been a bit touchy as of late. In the last year or so, we lose most of our shipment of them. It isn't just our store either--the same applied to the LFS I used to work at.
