Hello everyone. I have wild caught some fish in my local stream in florida and assume these things are platties?? BUt not sure, maybe someone on here can help me with a name. Is this type of fish popular at all?

Sure look like them.

I love these mollies I've got 2 one green and red and one blue and red. I gotta find some more.

heh those are cool, and free for you! unless you get caught catchin and keepin em.

Is there a problem catching them? and nh5 refered to them as mollies? so are platties/mollies the same group ?

not even close. mollies and platies are two very different species even though both are live bearers.

those look more like platies to me, but im no expert. either way, its really cool

This is a platy. I'm fairly certain this is what you have. It's also, from my experience, relatively hard to get mollies in that color.
EDIT: Mollies also have a bit of a kiss-lips thing going on. Platies just have an underbite.
