thank you and the clown fish seems to be doing fine or is it bad
this is what its doing staying at the bottom playing with the sand all the time and swimming against the current in the bottom in one spot
the yellow tail damsel is so small and it swims a lot in the middle and through the holes in the live rocks and i think its happy
the stores said they will take the corals back for a week and see if the corals grow in their tank or do better and recover and then they will give it back and if the corals don't do well in their tank also then they will give me store credit

thank you i am going to try really hard and go for a long period of salt water even though i did poorly in the beginning

i feel really cheated by the store because they told me that the corals will do fine and do better than the fishes in the tank because corals need less things
In an established tank this isn't even true. Calcium, alkalinity, ph, sg, temp, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate are all very important things to watch, and corals are even more sensative to too much or a lack of these things. They are much harder to feed, and some require very specific lighting.
Keep doing frequent water changes to keep the ammonia down untill it gets to zero. The damsel will probably survive this...

Please remember that any amount of ammonia is toxic to fish!!!
Any amount of ammonia is a spike! How are you testing the water? If it might be at .2 it probably is. I would take a sample of water to a fish store or two and let them test it for you compare the results of all 3 and you should get a good idea of where you stand.

about taking your water for a fish store to test. you have to make sure they don't use strip test kit, but use liquid. one of my stores use strips and trully believe they are accurate. Also, you are doing good so far. you only have two fish and you took corals back to the store. if corals recover within a week at the store, it's still would be too soon for you to take them home. also, your light isn't al that good for xenia anyway, so they have to give you a store credit either way. it sounds like the clown and the other fish are okay. however, still watch your levels of ammonia and nitrite.
