In this 30 gallon regular tank I currently have 1 fantail goldfish and 1 zebra danio. I don't have a heater right now but can get one if needed. I have a 20-40 gallon filter and a bubble strip running in this tank.
I want some small colorful fish. I would love to have guppies, but I've read that zebra danios are nippy so I'm not sure about that. I've also read that I need to get more danios as they are a schooling fish, but wouldn't that increase the chances of getting my goldfish tormented? :irked:
Any suggestions are welcome. :1zhelp:

IMHO I wouldn't mix goldies with tropical fish. Goldfish are a more temperate water fish and they are also a lot slower than tropical fish, feeding them becomes more difficult. I have a 50 gallon goldfish only tank and a 55 gallon planted tank. My suggestion would be to get another two goldfish, maybe a calico ryukin and an oranda and be happy with their colors. You really need 10 gallons per fish with goldies as they put out lots of ammonia.

These fish are great and have lots of personality. They'll get used to feeding time and will take food right from your hand.

I love goldfish, but that's the only kind of fish I've ever had so I was wanting some different kinds. I'm wondering if there is any type of small colorful fish that would be ok with my 2 current fish.
